Don’t let go…
Shaykh Muhammed Jebril was once asked if he had any advice to give to the one memorising Qur’an and he said: “Al Qur’an Yaghar,” as in The Qur’an is Jealous: “If you leave it one day, it will leave you for a week. If you leave it for one week, it will leave you for one month, if you leave it for one month, it will leave you for a year, and if you leave it for one year, it will leave you forever. It will desert you.” (Sh. Jebril)
Always remember one thing, when you have made an intention to learn Qur’an then the responsibility to retain the words of God lay on your shoulder. The blessings and rewards are plenty but the struggles whilst your on its path are huge too. So hold on tight to the words of your Lord, for Jannah was not made easy to attain.
With that said, go easy on yourself and don’t be so harsh when it comes to learning, always recall the verse
لَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And certainly We have made easy the Quran for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition? Surah Qamar verse 17
But simultaneously recall the Hadith by Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) quoted that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying, “The likeness of the one who memorizes the Qur’an is that of the owner of a hobbled camel. If he tends to it regularly, he will keep it, but if he lets it go, he will lose it.” (Al-Bukhari)
May we all be rewarded for the struggles we encounter whilst wanting to learn the Book of Allah Ameen
