With Ramadan fast approaching and the whole world in a temporary lockdown, we all have no more excuses to make. We have ample amount of time, in the comfort of our own houses to plan and prepare for the recitation of Quran. We need to do our self a favour and pencil in ‘open the Quran daily and aim to learn its meaning’. I mean let’s be honest, we have all been guilty of leaving the Quran behind whilst in pursuit of other many glamorous things. Now that the world is on a standstill, let’s make good use of our time during this blessed time of Sha’ban.
The Prophetﷺ said
‘That is a month to which people do not pay much attention, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I like that my deeds be taken up when I am fasting.”
You know why we neglect Quran? Because the reward of Quran is not visible to the naked eye, whereas worldly achievements are presented in the form of certificates, diplomas, higher pay, desirable positions and much more. .
One thing that I always recall someone say to me was this ‘the Quran is not in need of us… we are in need of it!’ Look at the Quran as your medicine and it will surely cure you from the many diseases and ailments presented to mankind today.
Allah has said in the Quran:
“And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy for believers though it increases the evildoers in naught save ruin.” (Al-Israa’ 17:82)
It is the ONLY book that Allah swears there is no doubt in it, hence why you will hear people say I reverted because of it or I changed because of it. Do your akhira (hereafter) a favour and commit a portion of your day even if it be a minute, to holding the mushaf and actually reading from it with the intention of wanting to gain more from it than just mere lip service. .
May Allah bless us all with the ability to recite in order to elevate our level in the akhira ameen.
